They Left

High School — Alisa on June 30, 2004 at 7:46 pm

Sari and Eve left me. All alone. It was so hard, maybe one of the hardest things I have ever done… Just to sit there and watch as they walked away. Eve never looked back, but Sari turned and waved so many times… I don’t know what I would have done. It would have been more dignified to never look back, but then again, unkind not to…

A Swimming Promotion (?)

High School, Swimming — Alisa on June 24, 2004 at 8:48 pm

So today at swim practice we were doing the normal interval training. I’ll go ahead and write the practice out, with out the deatails, though.

Warmup:

12×75

300 swim with excluded details

5×100 free—–Here’s where I’ll pause and talk about my promotion. Well, Logan gave us the option to do these on the 1:55 or the 1:40. She said that I should do them on the smaller interval to challenge myself. So I did. Man, oh man!

300 swim with excluded details

4×100 free on the 1:35 (This gave me about 6 seconds rest)

300 swim with excluded details

3×100 free on the 1:30 (this gave me 1-3 seconds of rest, depending on how fast I swam)

Then after that we had a warm down, and to the weight room we went.

So, anyways…Logan said that because I accepted the challenge, there is no going back. Darn… She also said that if I break 60 seconds in the 100 free, she’ll buy me a sub sandwhich (because you’d be in the “Sub-60 club“)and I’ll get to sit on deck and eat it when everyone else is swimming a hard set. Yeah, right. Like I’d ever do that. But I might surprise myself.

Brace Face…

High School — Alisa on June 15, 2004 at 12:03 pm

Braces were glued on my beautiful teeth today. Well, I guess if my teeth were beautiful, I wouldn’t need braces, now would I? Now I have a metal mouth…like everyone else. My bands are royal blue and yellow, for CGUHS team colors. At the very least I have team spirit!

A Bird’s Eye View

High School — Alisa on June 11, 2004 at 8:28 pm

Today I went flying in a little Mooney with one of my dad’s friends. It was so fun! Chicko (The friend) let me fly and everything! I flew out to Pikacho Peak, then I flew up to South Mountain. Good times… He thought that there would be a lot of turbulance because it was so hot, but there was only a little bit near Pikacho. I didn’t know this, but there are wild burrows out in the desert. We were flying really low, and we saw a couple of them. hmm. We were looking for wild Mustangs, too, but we only saw their trails, not them. I want to fly a helicopter now!

President’s Curse

High School — Alisa on June 4, 2004 at 1:28 pm

I typed this all out, did all the research, so you better enjoy it!

There is a legend that when Europeans started relocating the Native Americans (around the time of the Civil War), many tribes got together and put a curse on all of the American Presidents who were elected in a year that ended with a zero, would die in office.

This started with Abraham Lincoln who was elected in 1860. Everyone knows that he was assassinated.

James Garfield- 1880. Assassinated July 20, 1881, by Charles J. Guiteau.

William McKinley-1900. Assassinated September 6, 1901, by Leon Czolgosz.

Warren Harding-1920. Died in office on August 2, 1923.

Franklin Roosevelt-1940(his second presidency). Died in office on April 12, 1945(his third presidency).

J.F. Kennedy-1960. Assassinated on November 22, 1963, by Lee Harvey Oswald.

Ronald Reagan-1980. Was assassinated March 30, 1981, but was able to be recessitated, by the hand of God, no doubt. (God is able to overcome!)

George Bush-2000. There are a few times that he could have died. The September 11th attacks could be an attempt at assassination. There could be more to Pretzel incident that happened early on in his Presidency than the government is willing to share. Or maybe the terrorist attacks that are supposedly coming this summer will change the fate of the election. And if he is re-elected that will give the enemies of God 4 more years to attempt to kill him.

Interesting, no? Well, even though curses have been proven true (I just proved it!), our God can always overcome, for the fate of Kings rest in his hands
