Today I went into the Casa Grande Public Library to see if they might possibly have the book NoPlot? No Problem! by Chris Baty. And they didn’t. It’s a good thing that I didn’t have my hopes up too high. That Library is the worst one I have ever been in. It’s full of books, but never the ones you want. And the computerized catalog that’s supposed to look up all the books that they do have, but all it says is “Try searching under this catergory”. Great, thanks! You do that, and it tells the same thing to you again. nice.
This is pretty interesting. I was reading this in my history book, Streams of Civilization, Volume One:
“Sometimes there were men called beserkers in a crew [of vikings]. These men would become temporarily insane while in battle. They would throw away their shields and armor, wade into the thick of the enemy, and try to kill everyone. Sometimes while traveling in the boat, a berserker felt a fit of insanity coming on. His friends would put him ashore so he could run wild, smashing trees with his sword or battle-axe until it passed. We do not know for certain what caused these fits, but most likely they resulted from the violent Viking lifestyle.”
I am absolutely convinced that Lemony Snicket/Count Olaf/I-don’t-remember-his-real-name is crazy. Visit http://www.countolaf.com/blog and find out for yourself. That man is insane. What kind of sicko takes joy in creating horrible situations for orphans? Orphans have enough abandonment problems without this man exagerating on them. And I should know, because my little sister was one.
Further news:
The San Tan Invitational swim meet was horrible. I have never been so cold before in my life. It was 60*, the wind was blowing like crazy, it started pouring down rain, and there was a dust storm so thick that you could only see about 75 yards ahead of you at the most. I had swam my first event, the 200 Medly Relay, and I was up at the blocks about to start my second event, the 200 IM (the seond heat had just finished) when the guy in charge of the meet ran by telling everyone to go inside and warmup. Everyone was so happy and we all raced to the showers. By the time we could feel our feet again, the coaches meeting that decided if we swam on in that madness or went home to be dry and warm, was over. So we charged the coaches and when everyone got the news that the meet was cancelled a giant cheer went up from the whole pool area. It was a widesread thing, and it would be insane to keep going on. Only Garret, the serious, extremely quiet, 500-swimmer was dissapointed that it was cancelled. Funny, funny. My dad was there, so he took me home right away. That was terrific because the bus taking the rest of the team home wasn’t going to be there for at least another hour and a half. That’s what Laidlaw said, but they are so disorganized that you could bet money on them not being there for 2 to 2 and a half hours.
In case you didn’t catch it the first time, it rained today. Now the monsoons come when monsoon season is over….hmm…funny Arizona weather.
I’m excited about this - National Novel Blog Month. If you haven’t heard about it, you better start searching. Actually it’s called National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words in a month. Gee, I don’t have time for that. Well, swimming will be over by then, so….
I need to get that blog set up and ready, and I haven’t worked on the Devil’s Revels blog since I last posted, so I need to have more time or something…Maybe I should just start waking up earlier. That’s a thoguht, but then it means going to bed earlier too… *shrugs*
I started another blog. We’ll see how it goes….you know me. It’s main focus is Sundevil sports, and other Arizona State related items. I’m takingmy time with it and I hope to have it up and running smoothly by Novenber 1st. Well, it’s up, but there are minor details that I need to figure out how to fix, and numerous other little things need to be tweaked for my liking. I feel really incompetent for these kind of jobs… It needs to flow smoother because right now it is BOLD and in your face. Not good.
