Info

If you like personality tests, then the following will explain a lot: I am an INTP (borderline J), phleg-mel, and my Gallup Strengths are Ideation, Learner, Empathy, Analytical, and Deliberative.
Personal Timeline
- Born in St. Louis, Missouri.
- My little brother Eric was born.
- My favorite subject in school was arts & craps. I mostly made craps.
- My parents decided to homeschool me in first grade.
- Moved to the woods in Illinois, about an hour east of St. Louis.
- My family hosted an exchange student from Brazil. I collected bugs. She hated bugs. We’re still friends.
- My little sister Leah was adopted from India. I read half of the Left Behind series, connected with Buck, and decided to be a photojournalist.
- Moved to Casa Grande, Arizona.
- My family hosted an exchange student from Germany. I’m still homeschooled.
- My family hosted exchange students from Japan and Finland. I started swimming every day, except Sundays. I adopted my dad’s digital camera.
- My family hosted an exchange student from Ghana. I began taking 8 credits per semester at Central Arizona College, doing all of my normal high school work, and I was at the pool four hours a day. I got my own digital camera for my 16th birthday.
- The exchange student from Ghana never left. I caught senioritis, a year ahead of everyone else in my grade. It’s always like that, so I should have been able to predict it. I got a DSLR for my 17th birthday.
- I took the ACT without studying. I scored nearly perfect on the English, reading, and science parts, but I nearly failed the math part. Story of my life. I applied to the University of Arizona School of Journalism, and was accepted. I didn’t apply to Arizona State University, but they sent me an acceptance letter. I moved to Tucson, excited to finally be a photojournalism major.
- Decided that the journalism classes would bore me to death, and that I really only wanted to take 3 of the classes that I needed to take (Beginning Photojournalism, Advanced Photojournalism, and Magazine Photography). New goal: become a professional blogger. I changed my major to Creative Non-fiction (that’s what blogging is, right?), and declared a Studio Art minor (it seemed like the most fun). Realized that I only wanted to take two of the classes that I needed to take (Non-fiction I and II), and submitted my portfolio to be reviewed in order to be accepted as a Studio Art major. I was accepted. I spent the summer in Denver, Colorado, at Project Impact.
- Applied to and was accepted in the Visual Communications program at the American University in Dubai. Awaiting acceptance into the Visual Communications program at the University of Arizona. Preparing to spend the summer in East Asia.
